February 2008:
Update from Brianne

Well a good day it is... 5 years ago, I was just hours away from a life changing experience. Kenadie graced the world with her joyful little face and her powerful spirit. And now, 5 years later, she is still defying odds, and making people smile! We are so very proud of who she is and who she is becoming... she is feistier every day.

Kenadie is now 12lbs and still about 29 inches tall. She has graduated to an infants’ size 6 month for clothing, although the waist needs to be altered in almost everything she wears. We even found underwear for her... they are from Build-A-Bear... how cute.

She recently had her annual MRI with no visible problems, and her health is fantastic right now. She will be headed to London, Ontario in March to have her ear tubes removed, her ears drained and new tubes put in.

Her hearing isn’t very good at all, and it is really delaying her speech, although her speech is coming along. Kenadie is enrolled for Kindergarten for September, and we are really looking forward to that new experience. I can’t express what a joy it is to watch her grow... she is more and more of a little girl every day, she is saucy and smart and full of energy and love. She makes the people around her feel love all of the time, we are, as many of you say, so very lucky!

Thank you to everyone, again, for your kind words of support and encouragement. It really makes the difficult days bearable. And those who have sent gifts for Kenadie and Tyran, thank you again... so very much... they are loving everything.

I myself am in school full time right now, so keeping up to date with letters and e-mails and the website has been difficult, but there is a plan in action to send out personal updates and responses for all of the letters and gifts we have received.

I want to say thank you to the Sault Ste Marie OHL Greyhound Hockey Team, who collectively helped make a special day exceptional. We were at a family skate and were asked to leave the ice because Kenadie was wearing boots instead of skates, which are impossible to find in her size. The classy young hockey players stood up for her, and refused to allow us to leave the ice... they insisted that Kenadie was their guest and that she be allowed to “skate” too. Kenadie is a very big hockey fan, and this meant a lot to us... we will forever be grateful to you all. If anyone has a handle on where to get a custom pair of skates made... please let me know, I would love to have them for next year! (Team Picture of Kenadie with players to follow soon)

Well, I guess I have run out of things to say about our busy little life here... we are just living everyday together with some highs and lows... laughs and tears... successes and struggles. We are happy and grateful for the wonderful people, experiences and opportunities that have graced our lives.

Happy Birthday to my little girl... Kenadie, Mommy loves you!

Thank you again, strangers that have become friends close to my heart.

Warmly,
Brianne Jourdin

September 2007:
Update from Brianne

Hello everybody, I know it has been quite some time since I have written an update about Kenadie and our family, and I apologize.

There are a few issues I would like to address before I get into an update about how Kenadie is doing. My e-mails are insane right now... there are just under a thousand to be returned, as well I get letters in the mail that I hope to return. I have made a promise to return AT LEAST 10 per day... and I am still sitting on letters from the beginning of the year. Please, it is important to me, that you understand that I DO read each and every message, and that these messages keep me uplifted and motivated to be the best parent I can be... so, from the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU so very much for your love and kindness and support.

I get several letters concerning our son, Tyran. I assure you that we think and treat him like the special, intelligent and amazing little boy that he is. He is NEVER neglected or left out.The TLC special that you saw was filmed in February and March of 2006. Tyran was not even a year old at the time so he was still pretty quiet, and, yes... he was with us the entire time. There was 110 hours of film taken, edited into only about 42 minutes... so they made sure they got the best of Kenadie. Tyran is a wonderful 2 year old, inquisitive little boy who speaks in full sentences, knows his colors, numbers and so much more. He is a joy to our world. He loves his little big sister and is actually quite protective.

Now I will move on to Kenadie. Now 4½ years old... Kenadie is still in daycare for the mornings and an entry Kindergarten program in the afternoons. She is beginning to put more and more words together and is trying to communicate more every day. Just last week we had a Psychological Assessment done for her. This was to help us with her goals for development and education as well as for discipline. Kenadie is a happy and pleasant child, and was assessed at approximately a 2 year level. I will now take this opportunity to address an issue that has been brought to my attention several times. Kenadie is NOT potty trained yet. I realize that she is 4, but she is petrified of the toilet; and now learning where her development is we have been assured by our doctors that pushing potty training is not necessary. It will come in time for her, and in fact she has shown a small bit of interest as her brother is now starting. So, as I have said in the past, we will let Kenadie grow at her own pace.

I myself am back to school, at Algoma University. I am studying English and Film, a passion of mine since I was a child. So as you can imagine this household has been turned a little upside-down preparing for the changes. I do promise to keep you all updated and I will try very hard to stay on top of the letters.

Thank you again for your support.
Love to you all,
The Jourdin-Bromley family

PLEASE NOTE THAT I AM AWARE OF THE LESS THAN PLEASANT SITES POSTING PHOTOS OF KENADIE AND THE IGNORANT PEOPLE MAKING COMMENTS. UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NOT MUCH I CAN DO ABOUT THIS... BUT THANK YOU TO ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE RESPONDED TO THESE PEOPLE IN KENADIE'S DEFENCE.

May 2007:
Update from Brianne

It's been a while since I have written an update for the website, so I thought I should get to it.... Kenadie is doing WONDERFUL.... She is four now, and she is finally beginning to speak many more words and even putting some sentences together. We're so proud and pleased... we are noticing a huge ease of frustration in her everyday communication. Tyran is two now, and what a little man he is... his speech is developing at a very quick pace and is actually helping Kenadie.

I receive many e-mails with questions about when the TLC Special was filmed... it was filmed in February of 2006. Kenadie does still drink from a bottle; she drinks Pediasure because her quantity of food intake doesn't contain enough of the proper vitamins and nutrients. She is still wearing a diaper, we are about to get started on another training program, but as it stands right now, she is afraid of the big potty. She is starting to show a little bit of interest in this area.

With Kenadie, we have decided to let her show us the pace... there are so many things for her to learn and adapt to that we believe she'll show us when she's ready... this approach has worked with her so far, she is developing beautifully.

Coming up for Kenadie, there is the Little People of Canada conference in Toronto in May. In July there is the Little People of America conference in Seattle. This will be fantastic this year, as we will have the privilege of meeting some new families with children Kenadie's age.

Medically, Kenadie will be having her Neurology appointment in May, and her annual MRI in June. The summer will also be filled with another skeletal x-ray, an eye appointment and a dental appointment. I hope to have a developmental assessment in September as well. We have decided to wait one more year to put Kenadie in school... we want her speech to me more developed before another layer of independence is put on her by being in a classroom.... Her daycare is working positively right now.

This year has been filled with so much kindness; I hope you all truly know how much you have done for us. You have given us the ability to focus all of our energy on helping Kenadie reach her full potential. We are freely able to take her to meetings and appointments out of town, because of the kindness of many strangers. Your gifts and words and prayers have touched our lives in a way I'm afraid, not enough people will ever get to understand. I am honored to be Kenadie's mother, and afraid sometimes of letting her fans down... Please know, that she and her brother are our Number One priority, and as their family we will raise them to know about kindness and generosity and goodness. We will instill in them the lessons you are all teaching us.

Until next time, please keep her in your prayers...
Brianne and family

Update from Brianne

Hello to everyone... first, let me send out my warmest thank you to everyone who has prayed and wished for Kenadie to remain strong and healthy during this time.

She is doing very well, almost back to her old self. I cannot express to you what it meant to receive all of your letters of encouragement; it really helped us to remain positive throughout the surgery and recovery.

Those of you who have helped financially, I couldn't begin to tell you how deeply that has touched us... those of you who have sent clothing and drawings and jewelry for our little princes... again, our warmest thanks! Everything has been amazing. I have been offline for the past week, but I will be getting to return my MANY wonderful e-mails this week, so I sincerely apologize for taking so long for some of you... but the goal by the end of the week, is to get them all answered.

Kenadie will be 4 in another two weeks, and to look at her, in all of her spirit, it is a far cry from what we were told when she was born. Each birthday has always been very special to us, because it's another year that she has beaten the odds. This year is extra special, not only because she is a year older, but because we want to celebrate what she has done for us. She has taught so many people about love and spirit without speaking a word. We are so very proud of the way she makes people feel, she is an inspiration in a very mystical way. I can't quite put my finger on her secret, but she is. I only wish you all could feel the joy it is to be her parents... it is overwhelming.

Tyran is coming up on 2 in April, and what a special little gift he has been. People say that we must be special people to have been given the job of being Kenadie's parents. This is very true, but Tyran must be pretty special to be given the job of being her big little brother. He will have a lot of pressure on him, being looked over sometimes while Kenadie receives much attention... being expected to help watch out for her... being the big little brother of someone so special and unique... it will be tough on him in the future we will do our best to raise him to understand just what a gift he is.

So, to many wonderful souls out there; you have encouraged us to be the best guides we can be as we raise our children to be the best spirits they can be. THANK YOU!!

Brianne

Little Kenadie's heart surgery was a SUCCESS!!!!

Hello kind souls,

I am ecstatic to report Kenadie's heart surgery was a SUCCESS!!!

We delayed notifying you of this successful surgery due to complications which immediately followed the surgery.

We are overjoyed to report those complications have been resolved and Little Kenadie is back home with her parents, who are breathing a huge sigh of relief.

We were overwhelmed by your kind and considerate responses! Surely all the prayers, goodwill, best wishes and the collective energy you generated helped Kenadie.

Peace to all,
Gary

December 2006:
from Brianne

I have wanted to add some kind of update to this website since we got it up and running, but to be honest, I didn't really know where to start. The response to Kenadie this past year has been unbelievable. It brings tears to our eyes when we receive letters and realize how much Kenadie has touched people's souls. It really is fascinating. I intend to return every e-mail, and I will, it just takes a little time, thank you all. The letters we have been receiving are beautiful...

We have also been busy at home. Meetings to discuss if Kenadie will go to school next year, and what goals we hope to achieve within the next year. She's quite the little go-getter. This year our goal was to start talking... And she is doing just that. She got tubes in her ears in September and is really starting to pick up words now, even putting 2 and 3 words together at a time. We're so very proud of her. In fact, we're pretty sure that Big, Little Brother, Ty has encouraged her as well... He is a fantastic little talker, picking up new words every day.

Kenadie has been having a very healthy season so far... but for protection, off to get the RSV needles in the next couple of weeks...

Kenadie and Ty will be having a great Christmas, I have talked to Santa, and he says they've been really good.... Honestly, he must have censored television or something. In any case... Word is that they'll both be spoiled this year. Ah well, you're only a kid for a few years right?

Kenadie will be having some surgery to correct some things in her heart. This will happen in the New Year. We will be traveling to Delaware for this... We believe that God will take care of her during this time. Thank you all for your prayers, encouragement and support.

I will continue to update you all here on the website, so visit again if you like, to follow-up on Kenadie's development. For now, I can tell you that she is doing extremely well, and we believe that all of the positive energy and prayers have encouraged God to keep her strong.

Thank you all so kindly,
Sincerely, Brianne, Kenadie, Courtney and Tyran
